Last week, I had the privilege of attending the 2026 FAIA Annual Convention and Education Symposium at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando.
As a long-time member in good standing of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA), I make it a priority every year to invest in continuing education and stay ahead of the ever-changing insurance landscape in our state.
FAIA has been the leading voice and advocate for independent insurance agents across Florida for over 120 years. Their commitment to professionalism, ethics, and consumer protection aligns perfectly with my own values at Behar Insurance.
Being part of this organization for many years has helped me build stronger relationships, stay compliant, and deliver the kind of personalized service Florida families and businesses deserve. This year’s convention was packed with outstanding continuing education classes.
Here are the three sessions that stood out the most and how they directly benefit you, my clients:
Artificial Intelligence in Insurance Agencies
The future is here, and here at Behar Insurance, we are embracing it responsibly. One of the most forward-looking classes covered how artificial intelligence is transforming insurance agencies to serve clients better. From faster quote turnaround and smarter risk assessments to improved communication and personalized policy recommendations, AI tools are helping independent agents like Behar Insurance work more efficiently without losing the human touch.
Certificate of Insurance Rules Compliance
One of the most practical (and often misunderstood) topics was the latest on Certificates of Insurance.
Whether you’re a contractor, property manager, or business owner, these documents are critical for proving coverage to lenders, clients, or municipalities.
I gained deeper insight into proper wording, what certificates actually cover (and what they don’t), and how to avoid common pitfalls that can leave clients exposed.
This knowledge helps me review and issue certificates faster and more accurately, protecting your projects and relationships.
Flood Insurance Updates
Florida’s flood risk continues to evolve, and so does the insurance market. I attended in-depth sessions on flood insurance updates, including the current state of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the rapid growth of the private flood insurance market.
This is exciting news for many of my clients. Private flood carriers are now competing aggressively in Florida.
With private flood now representing a significant and growing portion of the market, I can shop multiple carriers side by side to offer you more options. That wasn’t always possible just a few years ago.
In conclusion
If you’d like me to review your current policies, I’d be happy to sit down with you.
Thank you for trusting me with your insurance needs. I’m proud to be part of FAIA and even prouder to be your insurance agent in Florida.
